Expect the Unexpected

Mark 8:31-33

 Sermon in a sentence: Jesus who is God himself had to suffer, die, and rise again so that you and can receive the gift of eternal life.

I. The Plan of Salvation Outlined v. 31

​

Is. 53:10-12 Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.

Acts 2:23-24 says, “This Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God 

But when Jesus predicts his death he also predicts his resurrection!

 John 10:17 says, “For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again.”

II. The Price of Salvation Questioned v.32

​

Is. 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
